Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a cell from being ruptured/exploded by housing the cell the surface of which is covered with an insulating material having a low melting point, in an outer packaging resin case with a gas vent hole, molding the inner space of the outer packaging resin case with foaming resin, and thereby blocking the opening section of the case. CONSTITUTION:Before molding, a cell which is covered with an insulating material 2 having a low melting point except the terminal exposed section of the cell, is fixed in the inside of a resin case 3 which acts concurrently as an outer packaging with a gas vent hole 3a while the terminal exposed section of a pin terminal is exposed. Following which, foaming resin 5 the foaming rate of which is equal to or more than 50%, is filled in the case whereas the opening section of the case 3 is blocked so that the cell is thereby formed. When the cell is heated due to an unusual condition which has happen to the cell while the inner pressure of the cell is increased, the layer of the material 2 with the low melting point which covers the cell, starts melting so as to form a space for the sealing section of the cell to be deformed. This thereby permits gas within the cell to be dispersed out of the gas vent hole 3a provided for the case 3 through foamed resin 5 within the cell before gas is discharged out of a fixedly squeezed section by inner pressure due to the deformation of the sealing section, whereas it is ruptured.
