PURPOSE: To reduce the size of an electric motor by attaining insulation between a coil end section of a winding and a blacket which constitutes a shell.
CONSTITUTION: A coil end section 2 of a winding wound round a stator 1 is covered with a blacket 3 which forms a shell. In a space between an end face of the coil end section 2 and an inner face of the blacket 3, a disc-like insulating member 8 is installed. In a space between the inner face of the blacket 3 and a side face of the coil end section 2, a cylindrical insulating member 10 is installed. The cylindrical insulating member 10 is held between an outer end face of the disc-like insulating member 8 and a projection 11 formed on the blacket 3. Even if a winding of the coil end section 2 is deformed outwards, insulation can be attained by the cylindrical insulating member 10. Therefore, a distance between the inner face of the blacket 3 and the coil end section 2 can be made small.
