PURPOSE: To obtain a germicide composition mixed for sandbox having high germicidal effect, safety and excellent stability of iodine, comprising iodine or an iodine compound to produce iodine or further an inorganic salt or acid.
CONSTITUTION: A germicide composition for sandbox comprises iodine or an iodine compound (especially preferably iodine monochloride, iodate or iodide). This composition may be further mixed with an inorganic salt (especially sodium chloride, calcium chloride or potassium chloride), an aid (especially preferably sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, oxalic acid or citric acid). The composition is preferably mixed with ≥0.001wt.% of iodine or the iodine compound to produce iodine, 1-50wt.% of the inorganic salt and 0.01-30wt.% of the acid. Contamination of sandboxes in parks, kindergartens, day nurseries, schools, etc., with microorganisms such as Escherichia coli by feces and urine of dogs and cats can be prevented by the iodine-based fungicide composition capable of safely and effectively sterilizing sandboxes.
