PURPOSE: To provide an image forming method using a two-component developer by which such picture images not only showing high image density but having excellent graininess without fog and having high visual qualities equal or higher than a printed matter or photograph can be formed.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic brush layer of a two-component developer is formed on the surface of a developer carrier body disposed to face a latent image carrier body. The magnetic brush layer is brought into contact with the surface of the latent image carrier body to develop a digital latent image written on the latent image carrier body. In this image forming method, a developer comprising a toner of 2-6μm average particle diameter and a carrier of ≤45μm average particle diameter is used as the two-component developer. A bias voltage containing an AC component is applied between the developer carrier body and the latent image carrier body. The frequency f of the AC voltage is controlled to ≥6000Hz. Thus, a digital latent image with ≥350 pixel/inch lines written on the latent image carrier body is developed.
