PURPOSE: To obtain a liquid crystal display type clinical thermometer instrument from which a displayed bodily temperature can be accurately read even at a dark place without increasing the size of the thermometer itself.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display type clinical thermometer 1 of the title instrument has a bodily temperature measuring section 2 at one end and a measured bodily temperature is displayed on a liquid crystal displaying section 5. Below the section 5, an EL panel 6 for back-light is provided and leads 7 for lighting are lead out to the outside of the thermometer 1 from the panel 6. At the time of reading the bodily temperature displayed on the section, the thermometer 1 is put in the housing section 9 of a thermometer housing case 8. The case 8 has an EL panel driving power source 10 and drive circuit 11. A terminal 12 connected to the circuit is lead into the section 9. When the thermometer 1 is set in the case 8, the panel 6 is turned on.
