Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer structure excellent in lightweight properties and dimensional accuracy, having substantially uniform thickness and improved in characteristics such as heat resistance, abrasion resistance chemical resistance and weatherability by providing a protective film of silicone resin type paint on the surface of a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer (LCP) molded object.

CONSTITUTION: An LCP molded object is obtained by subjecting LCP or a compsn. prepared by compounding additives with LCP to injection molding. A protective film of silicone resin type paint is provided to the surface of the LCP molded object to obtain an LCP structure. The protective film of the silicone resin type paint is formed by applying a diluted soln. prepared by diluting a silicone resin with a diluent to the surface of the LCP molded object to a desired thickness by a sprayer, a brush or a roller and drying and curing the coating layer and further baking the same as desired. By forming the silicone resin film on the surface of the LCP molded object, the silicone resin is partially or wholly converted to inorg. matter at the time of the heating of the LCP molded object at high temp. and the heat resistance of the paint is further enhanced.
