Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a wick of stiff and good shape keeping, by inserting plural stripes of tapes into the gap of double knitting wick simultaneously in a body.

CONSTITUTION: A wick is formed in two layers by a double Russel knitting machine, but an insertion tape 3 drawn out form a roll 4 is cut into suitable number of ribbon form tapes by knives 5 which are inserted between stiches of the double Russel knitting machine immediately for successive formation. Then, when heat seal of a piece of cloth in which the tapes applied with an adhesive agent are inserted is carried out by ironing over the cloth, the tapes are welded to the cloth by pressure in a body. With this, the wick becomes stiff and good shape keeping, the upper part of a combustion part is kept horizontal when the wick is installed on the inner cylinder, a distortion of the wick is not occurned even by up and down motion of the wick, and uniformity of combustion can be maintained.
