PURPOSE: To obtain a position specifying apparatus for a searching object in which radio waves can be received even from a remote object through the use of spread spectrum signals and the position of the searching object can be specified easily only with radio waves from a transmitter.
CONSTITUTION: In the position specifying system for a searching object, a search party Y drives a site controller to transmit a narrow-band signal S1, carrying the identification number of the searching object on a carrier, from each site and a transmitter mounted on a searching object X receives the narrow-band signal S1 from the search party Y. Only when the narrow-band signal S1 containing the identification number of the searching object X is received, a narrow-band signal S2 from the transmitter mounted on the searching object X is received at sites C1, C2 located in a wide area AH and then a small area AC1 in the site C1 containing the searching object X is determined thus localizing the searching range. The search party Y transmits a narrow-band signal S3 within the area AC1 and the transmitter mounted on the searching object X receives the narrow-band signal S3 and transmits an SS signal. The search party Y receives the SS signal and indexing the position of the searching object X based on the SS signal.
