PURPOSE: To set a sheet smoothly on a sheet loading part without interference with a sheet feeding roller by arranging said sheet feeding roller in such a way that its non-engaging part with sheet is positively opposite to a sheet loading part when said roller is stopped.
CONSTITUTION: A device has a feed roller 13 which has a non-engaging part with sheet 13b and which sends out sheets P from a sheet loading part 1, a means 2 by which the sheet sent out by means of the roller 13 are separated one by one, and a means 24 which receives and conveys the sheet which is separated to one sheet and delivered. At each sheet feeding cycle, the roller 13 continues to rotate until the end part of one sheet, which is separated and sent out, arrives at, and is received by, the means 24. And, when the posture of the rotation angle of the roller 13, at the time when the sheet is received and conveyed, is such that the part 13b is not opposite to the loading part 1, the roller 13 is continuously rotated until the part 13b is opposite to the part 1, before the roller 13 is stopped.
