PURPOSE: To set the address of an added transmission controller by using an address automatic setting message in a loop transmission system.
CONSTITUTION: In the figure, stations 11∼16 in solid lines have an address already and stations 17∼19 in dotted lines are stations not provided with an address yet. A station not provided with the address, e.g., the station 17 transmits an address automatic setting message (packet). A packet information section of each station is set additionally with the own address sequentially. The stations not provided with the address are set with an undefined code additionally in this case. When the said address setting automatic message is circulated, the station 17 checks the content of the message and sets a different address as the own address. The stations 18, 19 set similarly the own address.
