Abstract:
An efficiency enhanced turbine engine and method for a turbine engine having a rotor (25) and a fluid flow path (31) that extends through compression (63), combustion (65), and expansion (67) or turbine stages with fluid flowing through the fluid flow path driving the rotor. The turbine engine has one or more stator-rotor-stator (24-25-24) assemblies, and uses a flat rotor disk with turbine blades (57/58). Capturing of fluid during combustion enables elevation of the temperature and pressure while maintaining the fluid at nea r constant volume during combustion. Fluid is caused to reenter the rotor a plurality of times to provide cyclic exposure of the moving parts of the turbine engine to different portions of the engine cycle for reducing the average temperature of the moving parts and thereby allow higher compression ratios and combustion temperatures.
