Abstract:
PURPOSE: To display composite television signal having a non-widescreen aspect ratio on a non-widescreen receiver and a widescreen receiver. CONSTITUTION: A non-widescreen composite television signal is written in memories 1145 to 1160 at a first clock speed 3FS, and the composite television signal stored in memories 1145 to 1160 is read out at a second clock speed for display on a non-widescreen receiver or a third clock speed 4FS for display on a widescreen receive(which is determined by the first clock speed, the non-widescreen aspect ratio, and the widescreen aspect ratio, and this read-out composite television signal is selectively displayed on the widescreen receiver and the non- widescreen receiver.
