Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of sampling urine in a toilet (10) provided with a standard type water closet (12), and an apparatus (30) therefor. An elongated, curved urine taking trough (32) having a U-shaped cross section is used. In sampling urine, the urine taking trough (32) is positioned in a vertical, central surface (46) of the closet, and is positioned to extend obliquely between a front, upper area and a bottom area in a space of a bowl (14). As the urine taking trough (32) extends a substantial length in a vertical direction and in a longitudinal direction, a flow of urine hits the urine taking trough to be effectively taken even when a path of the flow varies vertically or longitudinally. As the urine taking trough is elongated and curved, it can be readily received below a seat when it is not used.
