Abstract:
PURPOSE:To easily generate gas contg. ozone at small electric power consumption rate by supplement of a small amount of electrolyte by utilizing a gaseous electrode for an anode and performing electrolysis while supplying oxygen-contg. gas thereto. CONSTITUTION:An anode 4 and a cathode 5 are provided so that the layers made of liquid-permeable material are positioned to the chamber 7 sides of electrolyte 9 such as a sulfuric acid aq. soln. respectively and the layers made of gas-permeable material are positioned to the respective gas supplying chambers 6, 8 sides of the anode 4 side and the cathode 5 side. Gaseous oxygen is supplied to the supplying chambers 6, 8 and electricity is conducted to perform electrolysis. In the anode 4, ozone is generated by reaction between the electrolyte 9 and oxygen in gas contg. oxygen besides reaction for generating oxygen and ozone by electrolysis of the electrolyte 9. Moreover generation of oxygen by electrolysis of the electrolyte 9 is inhibited by the presence of oxygen in gas contg. oxygen and reaction for generating ozone is promoted. Accordingly ozone is effectively produced at small electric power consumption rate.
