Abstract:
Method and apparatus for forming three dimensional shaped webs. The apparatus controls the flow of entraining air for an air laid web by restricting passage of the air through selected zones of a condensing surface. By limiting the open area in a zone of a suction plate the amount of fibers condensed over the zone is reduced permitting control of location of and amount of deposit. The duct work defining the conduit for the entraining air may also be shaped or provided with blocks to prevent scavenging of fibers which have already been deposited.
