Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a long-distance, low-noise bus for data transfer among processor units, by composing the bus of optical cables and optical demultiplexing and coupling devices, and transmitting and receiving data in the form of a light signal. CONSTITUTION:Respective processor units 11-14 have optical transmitters 15- 18 and optical receivers 19-22 in addition to CPUs; an electric signal E is converted into the light signal O to be transmitted and the light signal O is received and converted into the electric signal E. Optical cables 23 connected to the optical transmitters 15-18 are bundled and connected to the optical demultiplexing and coupling device 24, and the input light signal is demultiplexed and outputted to optical cables 25 and inputted to the optical receivers 19-12 of the respective units. Transmission is performed according to predetermined priority level of the respective units after it is confirmed that there is no reception input from other units. Thus, the long-distance data bus of simple structure is constituted with low noise and the extension of a unit is facilitated.
