Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to form cigarette layers into groups by a method wherein the cigarette layers are fed from the feeder chute at a high position where pusher fingers are located to transfer the layers and returned to the original position to prepare for the transference of the successive layers at a lower position. CONSTITUTION: Each time layers 8 of cigarettes 6 are transferred from a feeder chute 3, pusher fingers 12 are reciprocated on a horizontal path by a cam 21 connected to fingers 14. More particularly, the fingers 12 are moved occupying the space between the outlets 4 and a flat board 7 from the drawing position to the protruding position adjacent to a conveyor 9. The plane board 7 is provided with a vertical cleft 29 in the center thereof in parallel with the cigarettes 6 and a thin metal plate 13 for the pusher finger 12 enables the transferring and returning process. The cam 26 causes the returning process of the pusher fingers 12 to be just beneath the flat board 7 following the path shown in dotted lines 30. Thus, the pusher fingers 12 are moved substantially in parallel at different two heights.
