PURPOSE: To provide a device for cleaning a plating bath by removing generated dross in the bath, in the case of applying metal-plating containing molten zinc as the main component on a continuously running steel sheet.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal by dipping up the dross stacked on the bottom part of a plating vessel 1 to near the bath surface by a molten metal dipping-up means 23 is discharged into a bucket-like filter vessel 24 through a communicating tube 25. The dross is separated through the filter 24a and the cleaned molten metal is circulated into the plating bath 2. The molten metal passed through the filter 24a is kept closed from the outer air both in the communication tube 24 and the bucket-like filter vessel 24. When clogging of the filter 24a at the bottom surface is occurred with the dross, the bath surface is risen by the volume of the dross. As the filtration is executed through a new side surface of the filter 24b due to the rise of the bath surface, the filter vessel 24 can be used for a long time. By this method, the dross can be removed for long time and the dross defect on the steel sheet can drastically be reduced, thus the quality deterioration can be reduced.
