Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic head slider which excels in the insulation properties, the mechanical working properties and the contact start/stop performance, by forming an amorphous layer for at least a part of a recording medium surface and the surface of an air bearing which starts and stops a contact.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head slider 1 is totally made an anorphous material, and an amorphous slider material uses Al2O3-TiC. Thus a ≥0.03μm amorphous layer is secured for the surface of an air bearing. As a result, the contact start/ stop performance is improved for the slider 1.
