Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS587520
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
1429910 Emptying tanks SUNDSTRAND CORP 23 July 1974 [23 July 1973] 32461/74 Heading B8T [Also in Division B7] A fuel tank, particularly for monofuel supplying a hot gas turbine for driving an hydraulic pump in an emergency control system on aircraft, comprises a container, which in transverse section (Fig. 2) is substantially triangular and longitudinally (Fig. 1) is divided by panels 16-19 into sealed compartments 20- 24, these being provided with longitudinal baffles 40, 42 to prevent fuel sloshing. Conduits 26, sealed in panels 16-19, connect adjacent compartments bottom to top and a gas pressurizing connector is mounted in the top of compartment 20 and a fuel outlet connector 32 is mounted in compartment 24 and is formed with a tube 33 which extends to the base of the compartment to draw fuel through a tubular screen 50. This is intended under zero or negative gravity conditions to prevent the passage of gas bubbles and to hold sufficient fuel in the screen for brief periods when fuel rises from the base of the container. The tank is normally back-filled to lever 62 in compartments 21-24 and to level 63 in the compartment 20, which is provided for this purpose with a fill gauge (not shown) and a temperature gauge 64.
