PURPOSE: To provide an optical mechanism capable of eliminating the rocking mirror of an SLR camera, improving image quality, preventing noise and vibration, and stably operating for a long time.
CONSTITUTION: Light from an object direction is converted to vertically polarized light by a polarizing plate 50, and passes through a lens 20, then becomes horizontally polarized light by rotating polarizing direction at the angle of 90° by an LC element 44 when a switch 52 is turned off, and is reflected in the direction of a prism 24 by a PBS 48, so that a photographic image can be observed through the prism 24 of a view finder. When the switch 52 is turned on, the polarizing direction is not rotated at the angle of 90° by the LC element 44, the light passes through the PBS 48 in a shutter 28 direction, and a film 30 can be exposed by opening the shutter 28.
