PURPOSE: To define the functional charge of readers and members and to acquire knowledge efficiently by allowing a reader to select temporary knowledge from a member and register the selected knowledge in a knowledge base in addition to the acquisition of knowledge from the reader.
CONSTITUTION: A reader checks temporary knowledge transferred from a member work station and a condition requiring the knowledge periodically. When it is decided that an inference is proper and to be registered as common knowledge as the result of said check, the temporary knowledge is registered in the knowledge base 10. When registration is unnecessary, the temporary knowledge is held as it is and a flag meaning an evidence checked by the reader is added to the temporary knowledge. If the member draws an error inference, an alarm message is sent to the corresponding member work station. When the member's design and development are proper or not can be defined only by the information already transferred to the reader work station, the reader requests necessary information to the member work station to refer member's journal information in a member's large-capacity auxiliary storage device 15.
