PURPOSE: To enable the cooking of domestic-made rice and foreign-made rice successfully by the same amount of water by a method wherein a selection means is attached to allow the selection of the domestic-made rice and foreign- made rice and the supply of higher power is made possible following the latter half of a middle boiling process as compared with the domestic-made rice when the foreign-made rice is selected.

CONSTITUTION: An operation display panel 9 formed at the front top part of a rice cooker is provided with a cooking sort menu switch 9g in addition to a rice cooking switch 9d, a heat retaining canceling switch 9e and the like. When foreign-made rice is selected with the cooking sort switch 9g, a rice cooking heater is energized to the fullest to heat rice to be cooked after a preheating of a body heater in a rice cooking process and then, a different power is supplied from that for cooking the domestic-made rice. In other words, when the cooking of the domestic-made rice is selected, the power is lowered by reducing a duty ratio to prevent spillage. When the cooking of the foreign- made rice is selected, the duty ratio the same as that in a middle boiling process is maintained to make a full energization.
