NEW MATERIAL:The 1-substituted-1,2,4-triazole derivative of formula I [A is group of formula II or formula III (R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is H or lower alkyl; n is 1W3)] and its salt.

EXAMPLE: 4-[2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-y1)ethoxy]benzoic acid sodium salt.

USE: It has thrombxane A2 synthetase inhibiting activity, and is useful for the remedy and prevention of diseases relating to thromboxane A2 e.g. ischemic cardiopathy such as stenocardia, myocardial infarction, etc., diseases caused by cerebrovascular disorder, and thrombosis.

PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be prepared e.g. by reacting 1-H-1,2,4-triazole with the compound of formula IV (X is halogen; R3 is lower alkyl) or the compound of formula V in the presence of equimolar amount of sodium alkoxide at a temperature between room temperature and the boiling point of the solvent.
