PURPOSE: To decrease an access time and to increase positioning accuracy, by controlling a lens optical axis driving mechanism for tracking control with a servo system closed loop at all times.
CONSTITUTION: At normal recording and reproduction, switch SW1 is selected to the position B and a signal from a tracking error detector 7 is fed back via a driving amplifier 5a and a lens optical axis driving mechanism 5 to form a servo system closed loop for servo control to a recording medium of a disc. On the other hand, an access command to high-speed accessing is performed, the switch SW1 is selected to the position A and an output signal of a displacement detecting section 6 is fed back to obtain a command voltage Ei in response to a commanded displacement Xi and a servo system closed loop is formed and servo-locking is performed to the commanded position of a linear region of the displacement output characteristics. Thus, since an unnecessary signal of the lens optical axis driving mechanism is eliminated, the access time can be decreased and the accuracy of positioning can be increased.
