Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect the completion point of sintering accurately and to stabilize the operations of a DL type sintering machine by measuring the thickness of the sintering layer in the longitudinal direction of the machine changing with the movement of pallets and measuring the point of inflection where the rate of decrease in the thickness of said measured layer per time changes sharply.

CONSTITUTION: The rate D of a change in the thickness of a raw material sintering layer 4 emerged from an ignition furnace in the longitudinal direction of the pallets of a sintering machine, that is, in the longitudinal direction of the machine is measured with a thickness measuring device, and the rate Di of decrease in the layer thickness is calculated. The point of inflection where the curve of the rate Di changes conspicuously is measured and said point can be determined as the completion point of sintering. An ultrasonic rangefinder 5 or the like which can scan over the surface of the raw materials on the pallets by traveling forward and backward in the same direction as the moving direction of the pallet is utilized for measuring the rate Di, which is calculated by measuring the transition of the levels L0, L3 of the surface layer of the sintering layer.
