Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I .

USE: An antimetabolic inhibitor having suppressed toxicity of 5-fluorouracil.

PROCESS: Isopropylidene groups are introduced into the 1,2- and 5,6-positions of D-glucose in acetone in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid as a catalyst to protect the above-mentioned positions, and the resultant diacetone glucose is then subjected to he Schotten-Baumann reaction to introduce an acryloyl group thereinto. The resultant 1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-3-O-acryloyl-α-D-glucofuranose is then reacted with 5-fluorouracil in the presence of metallic sodium-alcohol.
