PURPOSE: To perform sure sealing and to form slag particles to specified grain sizes, by disposing a sealing plate in the trough of the part where a molten slag supply trough and the wall plate of a chamber for forming granular slag intersect.
CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic cylinder 18 is provided by means of a member 17 to a molten slag supply trough 2 and the wall plate 14 of a chambe 1 for forming granular slag. A sealing plate 16 is connected to the piston 19 of said cylinder 18. A hydraulic unit 20 is then operated to actuate the cylinder 18 so as to locate the plate 16 in a gap part 21. The feeding rate (h) of molten slag 22 is adjusted by the plat 16 to maintain the specified pressure of the gas from a gas injection nozzle 3, whereby the granular slag is granulated uniformly.
