NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R1 is halogen or CH3; R2 is H or halogen; R3 is Cl; R4 is H or Cl).
EXAMPLE: 5-Bromo-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,6-difluorobenzoyl)hydantoin.
USE: An insecticide.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with one equivalent or more bromine in the presence of a solvent, e.g. an organic acid, at 0W25°C for 1W50hr to give the compound of formulaI.
