PURPOSE: To correct weaving motion and to prevent heat buckle by providing a gradient represented by a specified equation to roll crowns.
CONSTITUTION: The gradient c (rad) of the roll crowns of each hearth roll is adjusted to a value represented by the equation (where w is the width of a steel strip, is the gradient at each point of the roll, and x is coordinates having a point O at the center of the roll in the longitudinal direction of the roll). The gradient c of the roll crowns of hearth rolls in the front half of a heating zone is adjusted to 0.95×10-3W3.6×10-3. The gradient c in the rear half of the heating zone, a soaking zone and a slow cooling zone is adjusted to 0.13×10-3W 1×10-3. The gradient c in a rapid cooling zone is adjusted to 0.13×10-3W1.5× 10-3. By the above hearth roll weaving motion is corrected, and heat buckle is prevented.
