Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength and corrosion resistance by placing and press-bonding one over another two facing pieces of skeleton near the rhombus knot of a grid of expanded metal and deforming the mesh into an approximate hexagon. CONSTITUTION:A rhombus mesh 1 is formed continuously by expanding a lead or lead alloy thin plate. A grid having a hexagonal mesh 1' is obtained by placing and press-bonding one over another facing grid skeletons near the sharp-angled knot 2, with the expanded metal fixed in the expanding direction. The grid skeleton 3 near the knot should preferably be press-bonded in the same horizontal plane, and the expanding ratio of the grid skeleton of the expanded metal should preferably be 1.4 or less. The mesh 1' of the grid is approximately a hexagon-like honeycomb, and hence the strength in the longitudinal direction or lateral direction is superior and handling can be accomplished easily.
