PURPOSE: To further reduce brake noise by making the right and left sides of a pad contour have a protruded shape which is constantly in a positive curvature facing outwards.
CONSTITUTION: The contour of a pad 10, which is formed by projecting it perpendicular to the surface of a disc rotor 41, is made in a symmetrical shape to the center line 81 heading in the radial direction of the disc rotor 41. One of the pieces of symmetrical pair formed in the radial direction has a protruded shape which is constantly in a positive curvature facing outwards. When the space between upper and lower sides 12, 13 at the center line 81 is set to 2a, the size of a curvature radius R of the central part 111 at the right and left sides 11, excluding respectively 10 to 30% of the upper and lower sides, is between (a) and 3a. The curvature center C is in the inner side of a square 80 of vertically ±1.2a and longitudinally ±1.6a formed by making the center of gravity G of the contour its center. Thus brake noise can be drastically reduced.
