Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable pit edge recording by obviating the phenomenon to vary the shape of magnetic domains to be formed before and behind the progressing direction of light in the magneto-optical recording system of an optical modulation system for recording and erasing information by irradiating the recording film of a magneto-optical recording medium with an impulsive laser.

CONSTITUTION: Recording and erasing are executed while the temp. distribution of the recording film of the magneto-optical recording medium is so controlled as to form a concentrical circle or concentrical ellipse by changing the output of the impulsive laser with which the recording film is irradiated with time. The output of the impulsive laser is changed with time according to the line speed V of the magneto-optical disk or the pulse width X of the impulsive laser or both thereof.
