Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of producing carboxylic acids on the basis of olefins and carbon monoxide in the presence of water. The inventive method is characterized by using as a halide-free catalyst system a mixture from a) rhodium or a rhodium compound, b) at least one nitrogenous heterocyclic compound, c) at least one alkaline or alkaline earth salt of an aliphatic C2-C20 carboxylic acid, and d) at least one glycol ether of general formula (I), in which R<1> and R<2> independently represent C1-C20 alkyl, R<3>CO, with R<3> being hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl or R<1> and R<2> together represent a C1-C20 alkylene chain and n is 1 to 30.
