PURPOSE: To enable a prompt taking-out of a recording medium of desired classification or content to be conducted from plural recording media which are housed in a housing part.

CONSTITUTION: In a compact disk reproducing device 1 for selectively taking out and reproducing disks 4 housed in each housing part 3 of a magazine 2, reflection mirrors 32 are provided on a side wall 2b of the magazine 2 in accordance with the classification or recorded contents of the disks 4 housed in each housing part 3. The setting condition of the reflection mirrors 32 can be discriminated from the outputs of photosensors 31 according to whether reflection plates 35 stuck to slide levers 34 are faced onto windows 33 or not. Thus, even for the difference in classification of the audio disks of 8cm and 12cm, or the difference in recorded contents of a CD-ROM disk, etc., the desired disk is selected in a remarkably shorter time as compared with the case when the classification or recorded content is discriminated by reproducing once the disk 4 and reading the read-in information.
