PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of motion of the arm at the time of change between a keyboard operation and a pointing device operation and to enhance input efficiency by an input device.

CONSTITUTION: The input device is constituted in such a way that a touch sensor panel 22 is made to overlap on a liquid crystal display device 21 which performs the pattern display of the input device according to display pattern data read out by selecting from a pattern ROM 20 which stores the display pattern data of a keyboard and those of a pointing device as the display pattern data, and information represented by an area on the display device 21 corresponding to the overlapped position can be outputted from position information given to the touch sensor panel as prescribed code data. Thereby, it is possible to switch over the keyboard operation and the pointing device operation to each other with a single equipment.
