PURPOSE: To enhance electrical characteristics and mechanical durability, to reduce attachment of toner, and to cut down productin cost, by using an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer for the surface of the insulating layer of an image bearing material.
CONSTITUTION: An image bearing material consists of a support and an insulating layer formed on it, or when it is an electrophotographic receptor, consists of a support, a photoconductive layer, and an insulating layer. On this material, a resin layer of an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer (AS) is formed. The AS resin is dissolved in a solvent, such as ketones, esters, or aromatic hydrocarbons, and coated in a proper viscosity. When polytetrafluoroethylene powder is dispersed into the AS resin, friction coefft. is reduced remarkably, and this is especially suitable when said layer is cleaned by a rubber blade.
