Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an orally administrable therapeutic preparation that comprises the therapeutic protein that is microcapsuled with a water emulsifiable enteric coating. CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution is prepared that contains the therapeutic protein and optionally a stabilizer but not any organic solvent, then this aqueous solution is sprayed on nonpareils and the resultant microcapsules are coated with an enteric aqueous emulsion of an acid-resistant polymer (ethyl acrylate- methacrylic acid copolymer) to give the objective orally administrable therapeutic preparation. Before coating, aluminum hydroxide is added to the aqueous solution to enhance its immunogenicity.
