Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a copolymer having an affinity for both a polar surface and a nonpolar surface and hence advantageously usable as a surface modifier for an electrode, an electrolytically produced polymer film, etc., a compatibilizing agent for a polymer blend or polymer alloy, a primer for bonding, etc.; and to provide a method of producing a polymer film from the copolymer through electrolytic polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The title copolymer is represented by the formula (wherein R1 and R2 each is hydrogen or an alkyl; B is a divalent group; A is an electrolytically polymerizable group; D is a polar group; and m and n each is an integer of 1 or larger). Electrolytically polymerizing this copolymer gives a film excellent in pliability and adherence. Electrolytically copolymerizing the title copolymer with other electrolytically polymerizable monomer gives a tough film improved in strength, hardness, etc., due to the formation of a three-dimensionally crosslinked structure.
