PURPOSE: To form high-strength flocs, and to increase the efficiency of dehydration by constituting the dehydrator of a sludge flocculating vessel, a pump for forcing the flocculated sludge into the dehydrator, and a screw press for dehydrating the flocculated sludge.
CONSTITUTION: The sludge is supplied into the primary flocculating vessel 1 from a supply pipe 2, and added with an inorganic and an organic flocculant from a chemical feeder 3. The sludge, whose electric charge is neutralized in the primary flocculating vessel, is supplied into the secondary flocculating vessel 1' and added with an anionic organic flocculant from a chemical feeder 3'. The flocs are formed by slow agitation. The flocs are then injected into the sludge supply port of a screw press 5 by a pump 4. The flocs discharged from a delivery port 9' is forced into the sludge supply port of the screw press 5 through a pipeline 12. At this time, a pressure detector is provided in the vicinity of the sludge supply port to control the screw pump 14.
