Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the spacing between adjacent reaction pipes and make a device compact, by arranging a plurality of reaction pipes filled with a catalyst layer in parallel with each other in a heating space, and connecting end parts of the adjacent reaction pipes to each other by a horizontal connecting pipe. CONSTITUTION:End parts of adjacent reaction pipes 8a, 8b parallel to each other are connected to each other by a horizontal connecting pipe 11, whereby the spacing between the reaction pipes 8a, 8b can be made as small as possible. In a construction wherein a long reaction pipe is bent to form pipe parts extending in one direction and those extending in the opposite direction, there is a limit in reducing the spacing between the adjacent pipe parts, due to malleability of a metal or the like. On the other hand, bridging the adjacent reaction pipes by a horizontal separate connecting pipe overcomes the limitation. In addition, as large a number as possible of the reaction pipes can be contained in a heating space 7, so that it is possible to treat a large quantity of a fuel gas while using a compact construction.
