EXAMPLE: N-Methyl-4'-methoxy-2-thiophenecarbonanilide.
USE: A fungicide exhibiting remarkably high activity against phytopathogens especially of downey mildew of cucumber, and having low toxicity and high safety.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared either by reactin the compound of formula II (X is halogen) with the compound of formula III preferably in a solvent, in the presence of a base, or by reacting the compound of formula III preferably in a solvent, in the presence of a base, or by reacting the compound of formula IV with the compound of formula V preferably in a solvent, in the presence of an alcoholate or an alkali hydride, or by reacting the compound of formula VI with the compound of formula VII preferably in a solvent, in the presence of a base.
