PURPOSE: To obtain an optical fiber connector with low connection loss by using an ultra-elastic material for a connecting part of optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: By using an ultra-elastic material for a cylinder 1, it is possible to easily pass an optical fiber with slightly longer diameter than that of a hole through the hole and reduce the axial shearing and angle shearing of opposed optical fibers. The optical fibers reduce their light level by about 0.3dB through the surface reflection of the connecting part. Therefore, the connecting surface is covered with a liquid with almost the same refractive index as that of a core, preventing the optical fibers from connection loss. Consequently an optical fiber connector with low connection loss can be obtained.
