PURPOSE: To facilitate connection, by performing such regulation that the quantity of the light passing through a connector from a laser light source is maximum and irradiating the light passing through the connector to one end of an optical fiber to perform such regulation that the output light is maximum and connecting the optical fiver to the connector thereafter.
CONSTITUTION: A connector light quantity detector 48 is moved forward onto an optical path 50 to detect the quantity of the light passing through a stop lens 46 and a connector 52 from a laser light source. At this time, the diameter of the laser light is adjusted by the lens 46 and is made coincident with the diameter of a hole 52a of the connector 52, and a connector movable grip part 12 is moved in X and Y directions so that the detection value of the detector 48 is maximum, and this part 12 is fixed. The detector 48 is removed from the optical path 50, and the diameter of the laser light emitted from the connector 52 is made coincident with an optical fiber 54a through the lens 46, and the output light is detected by a detector 56, and a cable movable grip part 14 is fixed in the position where a maximum detection value is obtained, and one end of an optical cable 54 is moved forward and is connected to the connector 52. Consequently, the connection is facilitated.
