PURPOSE: To enable recovery of metallic vapor in a molten metal state at a high yield by treating the metallic vapor with a hermetic type cylindrical vessel which has internally deflecting plates, is provided with a step valve communicating with a vacuum pump and has a heater.
CONSTITUTION: The vapor of metal such as Mg or the like is supplied from a metallic vapor generator 21 through a pipe 19 and an inlet 18 into a cylindrical vessel 2 closed hermetically with a cap 4 and a bottom plate 14. A stop valve 13 connecting to a vacuum pump 12 is intermittently opened and closed and the Mg vapor is sucked by a vacuum pump 12 so that vortexes are generated by deflecting plates 26. The Mg vapor flows toward the inside wall 9a of a side wall 9 and is quickly cooled to solidify on the inside wall surface 9a. The Mg vapor solidifies in the form of powder on the surface 9a in a lower hermetic space 3 while the valve 13 is held closed. The Mg vapor is thus mostly wholly solidified in the vessel 2 and therefore electricity is conducted to heaters 27, 28 at a suitable timing to melt the solidified Mg. The molten Mg is gathered on a bottom wall 14 and is taken out through an outlet 15 by opening a valve 15.
