PURPOSE: To save man-hour of the field test by detecting an incoming call from a telephone exchange being a test object to bring automatically a line accommodation terminal to the response state and returning a message stored in advance to the line accommodating terminal brough into the response state through voice synthesis of the message.

CONSTITUTION: After a test personnel connects each line correspondence section 41 of a voice response device 4 for test to a subscriber circuit being a test object via a main distribution board 2, the subscriber circuit connected to the line correspondence section 41 is called sequentially from a telephone set. An exchange interface section 411 detects a call signal and informs the incoming to a processor 42. The processor 42 commands automatic response to the interface section 411 and also commands voice synthesis to a voice synthesis section 413. A voice memory 414 extracts a message and performs prescribed voice synthesis, which is transmitted to an electronic exchange 1, from which the result is transmitted to the telephone set. The test personnel listens to the voice message transmitted to the said telephone set, confirms the connecting state and talking state and moves to the confirming test of a next subscriber circuit.
