Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a braking squeak from taking place, by damping the vibrations of a brake shoe by the frictional action between the outer circumferential surface of a weight and the inner surface of a cylindrical body formed to a web section of the brake shoe. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical body 30 is formed to the web section 28 of a brake shoe 16. The cylindrical body 30 has the axis parallel with a tangent of a brake drum 14. The weight 32 having a circular cross section to conform with the cross section of the cylindrical body 30 is positioned in the cylindrical body 30. The diameter of a weight 32 is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the cylindrical body 30, and the length of the weight 32 is slightly shorter than the length of the cylindrical body 30. Accordingly, the weight 32 can slightly be slid axially and circumferentially within the cylindrical body 30. The weight of the weight 32 should be equal to or more than the weight of the brake shoe 16.
