Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance chargeability in positive and negative charging and light responsivity, by using a carbazole copolymer in place of poly-N-vinylcarbazole for the binder of zinc oxide.

CONSTITUTION: The carbazole copolymer is dispersed together with zinc oxide as a resin binder. A suitable copolymer is a copolymer of one of N-vinylcarbazoles A and a monomer B copolymerizable with the former A and containing no carbozole group, and B is a monomer selected from acrylate, methacrylate, org. vinyl ester, styrenes, N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone. The molar ratio of the monomers A and B is 50/50W95/5. A photoreceptor is prepd. by uniformly mixing the zinc oxide powder with said copolymer and a dispersing solvent and dispersing it in 100 ZnO: 50 copolymer wt. ratio to form a coating soln. for a photosensitive layer.
