PURPOSE: To expedite taking in and out of articles, by a method wherein, in a moving shelf consisting of a plurality of shelves, merely through inputting of an article code specifying an article housed in the shelf, the shelf housing said article is adapted to be movable to a given position.
CONSTITUTION: A moving shelf is constituted such that a plurality of shelves 1, each vertically and horizontally partitioned into plural sections, are hung in a closely adjoining manner from an oblong track 2 and moved round in a forward or a reverse direction through driving of a conveyor 4, communicated to each shelf 1, by means of a motor 3. In which case, a pulse generator 5 is located to a transmission system extending between the motor 3 and the conveyor 4, and the output therefrom is inputted to a motor control part 6 togetherwith an input data from a code converting part 7. The code converting part 7 comprises a key board 71, a control part 72, an ROM 73, and an RAM 74 for storing a contrast data between an article code and the code of the cell of the shelf 1 housing said article, and based on a shelf code converted thereby, the motor 3 is controlled.
