PURPOSE: To output the information necessary for determining distance and to improve the accuracy in measuring the distance by storing at least a part of plural amts. of shift including the amt. of shift corresponding to the max. correlation and outputing the same.
CONSTITUTION: A left photosensor array 100L and a right photosensor array 100R are included in a photosensor array part 100. Said arrays receive respectively the light L of the video image-formed by a small lens for measuring distance or a lens for photographing and feed respectively photoelectric output signals to the analog-digital converters ADC300L, 300R in a quantization circuit 200. Said signals are converted to digital values which are fed to registers 400L, 400R and are stored therein. A circuit group 600 for generating evaluation function to determine the amt. (xn) of shift indicating a high correlation from two pieces of the video data is provided and the result of the evaluation is fed to a storage circuit 700 for the result of evaluation, by which said result is stored. A distance signal circuit 800 in a central control circuit reads out the distance signal and the information on plural number of shifts according to the call from the outside and transmits the same to the outside.
